See 30 shop owners arrested in Borno for sponsoring sect
The suspects were arrested during a raid in Bensheikh and Mainok in the Kaga Local Government Area of the state.
At least 30 shop owners have been arrested in Borno State for sponsoring the activities of terrorist sect, Boko Haram, reports say.

The suspects were arrested during a raid in Bensheikh and Mainok in the Kaga Local Government Area of the state, according to The Tribune.
A source, who chose to remain anonymous, reportedly said that the suspects are currently providing information, including names of prominent personalities, to security officials.
The source said:
“There are going to be surprises if President Buhari is going to act on information at the disposal of security agencies. The news doing the roundabout names of personalities involved in Boko Haram activities and sponsorships is going to shock many Nigerians.”
“Those arrests at Bensheikh last week when we raided the town is already giving signal to the fact that prominent people are involved with the Boko Haram activities. These shop owners are the suppliers of food items, money, fuel and other needs of the Boko Haram fighters. They also revealed how they attacked Bensheikh town to deceive people.”
This comes as Buhari vowed that Boko Haram would be defeated before the end of the year.

'Plans to recover stolen funds are in motion' - President says
President Buhari acknowledged the support and cooperation his administration is getting from the international community in gathering required intelligence for recovering the stolen funds.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, July 2, said that his administration has intensified efforts to recover looted Nigerian funds.

The President, who announced this at an audience with visitingUnited States congressmen in Abuja, said government has taken steps further by identifying banks, financial institutions and countries in which payments for stolen Nigerian crude oil were deposited.
President Buhari acknowledged the support and cooperation his administration is getting from the international community in gathering required intelligence for tracing and recovering stolen national resources.
"We are getting cooperation from the international community, including information on ships that take crude oil from Nigeria and change direction, or offload their contents into other ships mid-stream.
"Some monies were paid to individual accounts. We are identifying the financial institutions and countries that are involved.
"I have been assured that when we get all our documents together, the United States and other countries will treat our case with sympathy,’’ the president told the congressmen, led by Rep.Darrel Issa.
According to him, his administration will welcome more regular meetings of the Nigeria-United States Bi-National Commission.
He noted that the commission could serve as a more useful platform for the promotion of bilateral trade and economic relations as well as joint cooperation in the war against terrorism.
Rep. Darrel had earlier assured President Buhari that the United States will support Nigeria against Boko Haram by providing training, intelligence and military platforms.
"We look forward to helping you in many ways to end the Boko Haram insurgency and the theft of crude oil in the Gulf," he said.

Erstwhile First Lady, Turai Yar’Adua, on Saturday paid a surprise visit to former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his residence at Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Information gathered shows that Mrs. Yar’Adua was escorted to the former president’s residence by businessman Kenny Martins.
She met privately with Mr. Obasanjo for more than an hour before departing in a convoy of three cars.

he police in Delta State have arrested one Oro Oboreh, who claimed to be a pastor in a cemetery at Ozoro with a 14-year old girl, Chioma Praise allegedly performing a “healing” ritual.
The suspect claimed he was performing the “healing” to enable Chioma attain academic prowess.
According to the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, the Surveillance patrol team, Ozoro Division, while on routine patrol on Thursday, arrested the said Pastor of Christ Freedom Family also known as Amazing Grace.
Similarly, Police detectives from GRA Division in Asaba, acting on a tip-off raided a suspected baby factory opposite the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and arrested its operator, one John Mary Ihezun.
Eight pregnant girls: Ihezue Nkemjika, Amaka Agu, Isioma Anukwu, Blessing Okafor, Mmesoma Okeke, Chioma Oje, Precious Ihemine and Nzube Chukwu were arrested along with two boys, one Prince Chukwu and Obum Nwankwo, suspected to be aides of the proprietor.

“My boyfriend whom I met at Onitsha, Anambra State when I went to visit an uncle was sponsoring my education. We had agreed to get married as soon as possible. Then some people I regarded as friends started peddling wicked lies against me and without confirming if what they were saying was true or false, he called it quits just like that. They told him I had an incurable disease. So, I decided to help myself because my parents cannot do anything for me. We are poor” she explained.
She said the first night a man had her and paid her N15,000 changed everything.
